President's Update - July 19, 2010

All Members, please see the attached President's Update on several legislative and other issues.

Wednesday July 21 is a CALL IN DAY

Contact your Legislators and tell them to oppose S-2206, legislation that would allow both the State and Local governments to impose furloughs without negotiations.

S-2206 would undo:

CWA's legal wins to prevent non-staggered furloughs
Our State MOA limiting the number and the duration of furloughs
Our local government contracts where we have agreed to a certain number of furlough days, or where we have negotiated alternatives

AND Where we are headed into contract negotiations soon, the employer would have the furlough threat to use as leverage at the bargaining table.

Call your Legislators to oppose imposed furloughs without negotiations.
